About Steven

I was born in Madison, Wisconsin and grew up in Beloit, Wisconsin before moving to Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.  I attended the University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore.  In my final year of law school, I appealed my first manslaughter case under the supervision of Renee Hutchins.  Professor Hutchins inspired me to provide zealous advocacy for my clients, and helped me set the high standards I work to uphold.

Our criminal justice system fails to meet the lofty standards our Founders dreamed of. It is my goal to raise the standards for our system and restore confidence in our courts one client at a time.  I love our State, our Country, and our Constitution, and I want them to be the best they possibly can be for everyone.

I am currently licensed to practice in:

  • The Supreme Court of the United States
  • Wisconsin
  • Maryland (inactive)
  • I am eligible to be admitted on a case by case basis in many other jurisdictions

I handle all types of criminal appellate cases ranging from:

  • Disorderly Conduct,
  • Theft,
  • Sex Crimes,
  • Gun Crimes, and
  • Homicide

Continuing professional development is incredibly important to me; you can often find me researching the history of the Constitution and fine tuning my advocacy skills.  In my spare time I love to hike with my wife, play with our two Maine Coons, explore the world of fine dining, and root for the best team in sports: the Green Bay Packers!
